A fast moving storm dropped 3-6″ of mountain snow and a few early snow showers along the front range. Winds will decrease in Denver this evening
DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologists Kathy Sabine
A fast moving storm brought mountain snow and wind and a chilly day for Denver with early morning snow showers.
There are no winter weather or travel advisories posted but mountain snow and wind continue. The mountain passes are snow packed and icy with areas of blowing snow this evening.
Lower elevations will see a decrease in the gusty northwesterly winds and clear skies with overnight lows in the teens and twenties.
Front range foothill and mountain areas will see the gusty winds continue overnight. Northwest winds 20-50 mph are possible!
Highs will rebound somewhat on Wednesday under mainly sunny skies, with a high near 50°. A ridge of high pressure will then build in and turn out to be our main weather driver for the rest of the week, with a Denver high near 60° on Thursday and the low-to-mid 60s for both Friday and Saturday.
Our next storm system will start to roll into the mountains with light snow on Sunday, and it looks likely that we’ll see at least some rain and/or snow shower potential early next week for lower elevations. Isolated snow showers are possible in the Denver area on Monday night late into Tuesday morning of next week. With the Thanksgiving holiday (and all the travel around it) just around the corner, we’ll keep an extra eye on that storm for you.
