Littleton restaurant to hold fundraiser for injured Golden Police officer

Multiple businesses, including a Littleton pizza shop, are hosting fundraisers for injured Golden Police Officer Bethany Grusing.

LITTLETON, Colo. — A local restaurant is stepping up to support Golden Police Officer Bethany Grusing, who was injured in a crash that took the life of her colleague, Officer Evan Dunn.

Saucy’s Pizza in Littleton is hosting a fundraiser on Tuesday, Nov. 19 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with 15% of all proceeds going to the MC-1 Foundation, which supports fallen officers and their families.

“I can’t even comprehend what they’re probably going through,” said Saucy’s owner TJ Wood. “I mean they’re mourning the loss of an officer, and then on top of that, she’s probably mourning the loss of a friend and a colleague but then has to heal herself, and try to get back, and I just can’t even comprehend what they’re probably going through.”

Wood, who has made it a point to give back to the community, added, “I want this to be a good neighborhood spot, and I want to give back as much as possible.”

On Nov. 6, police said a suspected drunk driver hit the officers while they were responding to an emergency call. Officer Dunn was killed, and Officer Grusing was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.

Wood expressed hope that the event will help lift Officer Grusing’s spirits: “I’m hoping it’s got to feel good, to at least know that people got your back,” he said.

Mark Miller with the MC1 Foundation said all of the proceeds will go directly to Grusing and her family.

“Our mission is wholeheartedly first responders injured in the line of duty,” he said.

Additional fundraisers have been held at the Golden Mill and Powder7 Ski Shop in Golden.
