Loveland Police arrested one man and one teen in connection with three drive-by shootings that occurred Sunday in about a 30-minute span.
LOVELAND, Colo. — The Loveland Police Department announced the arrest of two suspects in connection with three drive-by shootings that were reported over the weekend.
Loveland Police said they arrested Robert Jacobs, 20, of Loveland, and a 17-year-old boy on multiple charges.
Jacobs was booked into the Larimer County Jail on two counts each of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated retaliation against a witness or victim, and illegal discharge of a firearm and one count of providing a handgun to a juvenile. All are felonies.
The teen was booked into the Platte Valley Youth Detention Center on two counts each of attempted first-degree murder, illegal discharge of a firearm, which are both felonies, and one count of possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
The pair were arrested after police received reports of three separate drive-by shootings and identified the car the suspects were in. Loveland Police said the three shootings took place within about a 30-minute span.
Shortly after 5 a.m. on Sunday, the Loveland Emergency Communication Center received a call that a drive-by shooting had just occurred in the 1000 block of East 5th Street, police said. The caller told police a family member’s home had also just been shot at outside of Loveland city limits.
Police said they got a second call from someone else for a separate weapons complaint in the 1400 block of Platte Street. That caller told police they didn’t know if their house was shot at, but they heard multiple gunshots.
Once officers located a vehicle of interest, they conducted a high-risk stop in the 2300 block of Greeley Drive, on the west side of Loveland. Jacobs, the teen, and another adult were in the vehicle, police said, and that during a search of the vehicle, officers found a weapon.
The third person in the vehicle was released without charges.
Loveland Police said the suspects knew the intended victims, and police said there is no ongoing danger to the community.
Police asked that anyone with information regarding this incident call Loveland Police Department Tip Line at 970-962-2032 or Larimer County Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.
