The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has called a Weather Impact Day for continuing snowfall Saturday morning.
DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Keely Chalmers
THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE: The major winter storm continues to bring light to moderate snow across the Denver metro area this morning, with some historic snow totals across the eastern plains. 1 to 2 feet of snow has fallen since Wednesday morning across the far eastern plains.
Light to moderate snow continues across the front range, eastern plains, through midday today. Denver International Airport has reported 8.2″ of snow over the last 24 hours, with up to 2 inches additional accumulation possible before this system moves out.
Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are currently in-place across parts of the eastern plains, through noon today. These areas should prepare for 1 to 2 inches on top of the wet, heavy snow already on the ground creating some hazardous travel conditions!
This morning as you venture out, prepare for slick side streets and sidewalks, as re-freeze is likely in infrequently traveled spaces.
We are starting the day with continued snow showers through the morning hours. Midday, precipitation will start to move out, but watch for lingering mountain snow showers, and rain showers along northern portions of the front range/plains, as temperatures rise into the 40s.
Next week, sunny and seasonal conditions return. We’ll see several days with afternoon highs in the 50s, Sunday through next Friday.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy with morning snow, high 41. Partly cloudy overnight, low 29.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny, breezy and warming, high 50. Partly cloudy overnight, low 28.
