The Fort Collins brewery hopes to fill a semi-truck with nonperishable food items and hygiene products on Thursday and Friday.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A Fort Collins brewery is collecting donations for their friends impacted by Hurricane Helene.
New Belgium Brewing is hosting “Together for Asheville.” They’re doing a donation drive and asking people for canned meats, fruits and vegetables. They’re also looking for menstrual and hygiene products.
The donation drive started Thursday and will continue from noon to 7 p.m. Friday at the brewery’s liquid center at 500 Linden St. in Fort Collins.
The goal is to collect a semi-truck’s worth of items to send to Manna Food Bank in Asheville.
A man stopped by to donate who actually lives in Asheville. He’s been with his dad for three weeks because he doesn’t have the basics there.
He shares how great it was to get basic necessities again, while staying here. “Oh it was wonderful, I got to take hot showers, and drink water, brush my teeth right from the tap, and of course my dad just welcomed me in… it’s just been very healing,” Mark Shelton said.
