Bradley Lindsey was let into the home by the homeowner and told him in a conversation he was “taking care” of the victim, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide with a hatchet after being let into the home by the homeowner, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.
Bradley Lindsey, 35, was arrested at the scene and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree homicide.
In the media release, on Wednesday around 8:45 p.m., Jefferson County deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance in the 3400 block of Burnham Drive. A neighbor called 911 after having an encounter with a man, who’s been identified as Lindsey, walking down the street.
Lindsey reportedly told the neighbor to “call the police if they heard gunshots” before going to a home. After hearing this, the neighbor immediately called 911, according to the media release.
When deputies arrived, they found Lindsey covered in blood and a 61-year-old male victim who had injuries and needed medical attention. Lindsey was taken into custody and the initial investigations suggest he allegedly attacked the man with a hatchet, the sheriff’s office said.
The homeowner, 74-year-old David Dick, told deputies that he didn’t know Lindsey but let him into the home when he knocked on the door, the media release said. During their conversation, Lindsey reportedly made remarks about “taking care” of the victim who has lived with Dick as a tenant for several years. Dick is currently in the process of legally evicting the victim.
The 61-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but was treated and released. The investigation is ongoing.
