Heavy snow Friday, early Saturday

DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Laurann Robinson 

THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE: The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has issued Weather Impact Days through Saturday morning, for heavy snowfall across Colorado. 

Winter Storm Warnings are in-place for much of the front range/eastern plains, including the Denver metro, as 6 to 14 inches of new snow are forecast to fall from Friday morning, through midday Saturday. Areas under Winter Weather Advisories should expect roughly 2 to 8 inches of new snow, under the same timeline. 

In addition to heavy snowfall, prepare for chilly temperatures, overnight Thursday through Friday evening. Denver lows are expected to drop to 28 degrees by early Friday morning, with temperatures likely staying at or below-freezing throughout the day. Be sure to bundle up as afternoon highs peak near 32 degrees, in Denver. 

Snow will finally start to move out, midday Saturday. Some areas to the north could see light rain showers as this system moves out, while afternoon highs rise a tad, into the lower 40s. 

Next week, sunshine returns, along with near-seasonal temperatures. Highs are forecast to reach the lower to middle 50s, each day, next Sunday through Thursday. 

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy with light snow through the day, high 34. Cloudy with flurries overnight, low 28.

FRIDAY: Cloudy with heavy snow throughout the day, high 32. Mostly cloudy with snow likely overnight, low 29.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy with morning snow, high 43. Partly cloudy overnight, low 31.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny, breezy and warming, high 52. Partly cloudy overnight, low 28.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny, breezy and seasonal, high 54. Mostly clear overnight, low 32.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny, windy and mild, high 55. Mostly clear overnight, low 29.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny and chilly, high 50. Mostly clear overnight, low 29.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny and seasonal, high 57. Partly cloudy overnight, low 31.
