Deion Sanders’ CU Buffs ranked in first College Football Playoff standings

The College Football Playoff selection committee released its first rankings of the 2024 season Tuesday night.

BOULDER, Colo. — The College Football Playoff selection committee has released its first rankings of the 2024 season, putting Colorado at No. 20.

The CFP rankings determine which 12 teams will be selected for the newly expanded College Football Playoff, which begins on Dec. 20 and ends with the College Football Playoff National Championship on Jan. 20.

The Buffs’ CFP ranking is one spot better than their No. 21 ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 College Football Poll

Colorado has an overall record of 6-2 and a 4-1 record in the Big 12. They would have to win all of their remaining games against Texas Tech, Utah, Kansas and Oklahoma State, and likely the Big 12 championship to make the playoff.

The CFP selection committee will release new rankings every Tuesday for the rest of the season. The final rankings will come out on Sunday, Dec. 8.
