Denver has its first freeze of the season

DENVER — Denver had its coldest morning in almost six months.

The temperature fell to 32 degrees Friday morning at the city’s official National Weather Service station at Denver International Airport.

The reading was the first freeze in Denver for the 2024-25 meteorological winter season. The National Weather Service said the first freeze in Denver was two and a half weeks later than normal.

The National Weather Service added that while many areas of the Front Range, including the Denver metro area, have yet to see freezing temperatures, many will likely by the middle of next week.

After a warm weekend, Colorado will see a major weather shift next week, just in time for Halloween.

The next storm system will arrive on Tuesday bringing the first widespread freeze across the Interstate 25 urban corridor and Denver area.

The system will bring bring rain showers initially on Tuesday night before potentially flipping over to snow for Wednesday morning. While Denver won’t see much snow, the area could get its first dusting of the season.

Colorado’s mountains could get several inches of snow on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
