Man pleads guilty in killings of 3 family members

AURORA, Colo. — A man accused of killing three of his family members in Aurora in December 2022 has pleaded guilty, according to court documents. 

Christopher Martinez, 23, pleaded guilty Monday to three counts of second-degree murder, according to the documents. Other charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. 

The victims, Marisol Espindola, 18, Kaiden Casteneda, 18, and Estancia Martinez, 41, were found dead inside a home in the 1500-block of South Evanston Street in Aurora in December 2022. The victims were Martinez’ sister, brother and mother.

According to an arrest affidavit, Martinez told his grandmother that he’d had a dream something bad happened to his family, then admitted to stabbing his brother and shooting his sister and mom while he was blackout drunk.

Martinez is set to be sentenced Jan. 3.
