Fort Collins woman shot while confronting 2 men breaking into her car

Fort Collins police are looking for two males who shot a woman in the leg after she confronted them about breaking into her car.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Fort Collins Police Department announced on Monday that a woman was shot in the leg after confronting two suspects breaking into her car.

At 1:20 a.m. Monday morning, Fort Collins police responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of Crown Ridge Lane. A woman was woken up by one of her family members who saw two males breaking into her car that was parked in front of her house, according to the media release.

The woman ran outside to confront the two men, but one of the males fired multiple shots, striking the victim in the leg, police say.

The two suspects are described as males wearing dark-colored clothing, hoodies and backpacks. Police said the men were considered armed and dangerous.

FCPD asked the community to check any home security or doorbell cameras and business surveillance footage for any suspicious activity matching the two suspect’s descriptions. Police asked residents to check between the hours of 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. from Sunday night into Monday morning.

Additionally, police asked if you’ve experienced a vehicle trespass in the area since Aug. 1 and haven’t reported it to the police, they are encouraging you to do so.
