SB I-25 reopens after closure for follow-up investigation related to Friday shooting

Police are investigating a shooting and said two people were transported to the hospital.

DENVER — A portion of southbound Interstate 25 was shut down Monday afternoon as police conducted follow-up investigative work related to a shooting on Friday.

Monday afternoon, the southbound lanes of the highway were shut down between Downing and University Boulevard for more than an hour. All lanes were back open at 2 p.m.

Denver Police said it was closed as they continued their investigation into a shooting that happened in the 4800 block of South Quebec Street in the Denver Tech Center on Friday.  Two men were injured but were expected to survive.

On Friday, Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) cameras showed an SUV on the right shoulder of southbound I-25 at the East Union Avenue bridge, just before the East Belleview Avenue exit. That vehicle had visible holes in the windshield and appeared to be related to the shooting, police said.
