Suspect arrested after man stabbed, seriously injured on Boulder County trail

The sheriff’s office said the stabbing happened the morning of Sept. 11 on the Tenderfoot Trail off of Chapman Drive.

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — A man accused of stabbing another man on a Boulder County hiking trail in September has turned himself in to law enforcement, the sheriff’s office said.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to the stabbing around 7:45 a.m. Sept. 11 on Chapman Drive at the Tenderfoot Trail. It is an Open Space and Mountain Parks trail located west of Boulder, near the 3400 block of Flagstaff Road.

The victim was hiking when the suspect confronted him and stabbed him multiple times with a knife, the sheriff’s office said. The suspect then ran up the Tenderfoot Trail to the Realization Point parking lot.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Deputies searched the area for the suspect, but were unable to locate him.

Deputies said the victim had interacted with the suspect previously while using the trail, as they both frequent the area.  In an update the next day, the sheriff’s office said they had identified the suspect and said all people involved in the incident were cooperating.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect, 64-year-old Randy Wojno, turned himself in the morning of Oct. 16. He was booked into jail on charges of first-degree assault, a felony, and dogs running at large, a petty offense, the sheriff’s office said.
