Smoke enters Colorado on Monday: Here’s what we’re tracking

DENVER — A cold front will enter Colorado on Monday, bringing wildfire smoke with it.

Smoke from fires in Wyoming and Idaho will move into eastern Colorado on Monday.

The National Weather Service in Boulder said there will be smoky skies in the morning before surface smoke increases behind a cold front Monday afternoon. Skies will be hazy throughout the day.

Skies will be mostly sunny on Monday in Colorado, but the smoke will increase in the afternoon. Despite the cold front, temperatures will be the same or a little warmer than on Sunday.

Denver will see a high temperature of 81° in Denver on Monday, which is more than 10 degrees above average for the first week of October. 

Colorado will stay dry and warm all week long, with highs in the low-to-mid 80s, 10-15° above our average high in the upper 60s for this week. 

Monday marks the average date of Denver’s first freeze, but there is nothing in the next 10-14 days getting us close to a frost or a freeze.

The 9NEWS Weather Impact team is watching for the potential for a weather pattern flip next weekend and into the following week. However, recent computer modeling is less bullish on those cooler and more fall-like temperatures. The warm weather is likely here to say for a while in Colorado.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny and continued warm, high 84. Mostly clear overnight, low 53.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny and warm, high 84 (record: 87°). Mostly clear overnight, low 51.

SATURDAY: Sunny and mild, breezy, high 81. A few clouds increase at night, low 45.

SUNDAY: A potential fall-like feel with cooler weather, high 72. A few clouds at night, low 48.
