A slow warmup on Sunday behind a cold front but full sunshine will still get the high temperatures near 80
DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Cory Reppenhagen
THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE:
Denver broke a daily high temperature record with an 87-degree measurement Saturday afternoon. It was the third heat record tied or broken in the first five days of October, and it was also the fifteen heat record since June 1, counting the warm low temperatures.
Morning low temperatures on Sunday will be quite a bit cooler after a cold front moved through. Middle 40’s is the forecast for Denver.
It will be a slow warmup, but high temperatures should come close to 80 degrees by the late afternoon. It may feel slightly warmer than that though with full sunshine in the forecast.
Then it’s right back to near record highs again as we roll into the new work week with widespread 80s in store for Denver and the lower elevations. Denver’s average first freeze, which is Oct. 7, appears to be coming late again this year. The next cool down will be next weekend and even that will likely not feature freezing temperatures. Afternoon highs could however potentially stay below 70 degrees with a slight chance for a few isolated showers.
