Pedestrian killed in Aurora crash

Police said the man was not in a crosswalk at the time.

AURORA, Colo. — A man died Saturday after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Aurora. 

The Aurora Police Department said in a release that a man who was not in a crosswalk ran across Colfax Avenue near Macon Street and was struck by a driver in a Toyota SUV who was going westbound on Colfax. 

The man later died at a hospital. The driver stayed at the scene. Police said there is no indication that speed or alcohol were contributing factors.

The crash caused a road closure that lasted for about two hours. 

Aurora Police said their traffic unit will continue its investigation to determine what factors led up to the crash. 

This was Aurora’s 37th traffic-related fatality of 2024, police said.
