Denver has its warmest September ever. Is fall-like relief on the way?

It’ll stay hot and dry for the foreseeable future, with a slightly cooler today today ahead of what’s likely to be our latest 90-degree day on record tomorrow.

DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Chris Bianchi

FORECAST AT A GLANCE: The calendar might say October, but this forecast is much more August-like as we head over the next few days, though we will see some briefly cooler weather for today.

After yesterday’s cold front kicked up our winds a bit, we’ll see a breezy and slightly cooler day today with a high in the upper 70s (average high for today: 72°). That breeze will keep our fire danger elevated, with Fire Weather Watches across parts of the Eastern Plains and our northern mountains.

In general, be smart with any spark outdoors on a day like today and considering our recent dry spell.

The big weather story over the next few days will probably be our potentially latest 90-degree reading on record for tomorrow in Denver. Highs statewide will spike well above average, and we could break a few all-time October monthly temperature records on Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure peaks over Colorado.

We briefly ‘cool’ down into the low 80s for Thursday and Friday before perhaps making yet another run at 90 degrees on Saturday. We’ll likely top out at 80 degrees or above every day over the next week after today.

We have no meaningful rain chances basically anywhere statewide over the next 5-7 days, and in Denver, it’s pretty clear we’ll stay dry for at least the next 7-10 days, with little sign of true autumn weather anytime soon.

In the meantime, be smart with our fire danger today and enjoy this prolonged late taste of summer!
