Sunshine dominates Wednesday with possible record heat Thursday

Colorado stays warm and dry for a few days with record breaking fall heat possible Thursday.

DENVER — THE FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Cory Reppenhagen

FORECAST AT A GLANCE:

A ridge of high pressure pushes in from our south and west and that’ll bring us drier and hotter air for a few days. Highs top out in the upper 80s in Denver tomorrow (record: 91°), while Thursday could feature one of our latest 90-degree readings on record in Denver.

We’re forecasting a high of 90° in Denver on Thursday, which would not only tie a daily record, it would also mark our 8th-latest 90-degree day on record for the city (official climate records in Denver date back to the 1870s).

A weak cold front is on track to arrive Thursday night into Friday morning. It will be a low impact dry front for the Denver area, but it could help regulate the high temperatures a bit. Forecast is 83 degrees.

Temperatures for the coming weekend are trending up in Denver and could end up in the middle to upper 80’s with dry conditions and lots of sunshine. If the forecast for the last six days of the month verify, it would seal the warmest September in Denver history after the fifth warmest August and the second warmest June already this year.

Enjoy this late taste of summer, if that’s your thing.
