Human remains found near Blue Mountain Road in Boulder County

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office considers the death suspicious but doesn’t believe there’s any threat to the public.

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — Human remains were found near the 1000 block of Blue Mountain Road in Boulder County Tuesday, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said.

Blue Mountain Road, also known as County Road 71 North, is just northwest of Lyons in unincorporated Boulder County.

While the sheriff’s office said the death was considered suspicious, they do not believe there’s any threat to the public. The sheriff’s office added that they do not believe this death is related to another recent death being investigated near the 8000 block of Overland Road. That person was found Sep. 14.

The sheriff’s office said they responded to a report about possible human remains at 11 a.m. Tuesday. They confirmed the remains were human when deputies arrived on scene.

Given the condition of the remains, the sheriff’s office said they weren’t able to determine the gender of the person who died. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will identify the person once they examine the remains and notify the victim’s family.
