Goodbye, fall: Warming back near 80 today

Summer lovers will enjoy this forecast: High temperatures spike back near 80° today, and we’ll be in the 80s most of this week.

DENVER — THE FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Chris Bianchi

FORECAST AT A GLANCE:

After Sunday’s ever-so-brief taste of fall appropriately timed right on the Autumnal Equinox, we’re transitioning straight back to summer, with highs in the 80s and dry weather most of this week.

We only topped out at 61° back on Sunday, but we’ll spike back near 80° on Monday (average high for today: 77°) with mostly sunny skies. A weak cold front swings through Colorado tonight, and that’ll briefly bring us some cloud cover for tonight and early tomorrow.

Highs drop into the mid-70s behind that front for Tuesday, with a bit of a breeze as well. Skies stay mostly sunny – and get used to those blue skies.

We top out in the low 80s for Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure builds in from the west. That ridge will peak over Colorado on Thursday, spiking our highs into the upper 80s (record for Thursday: 90°), and we only slowly slide back into the low-to-mid 80s for Friday and next weekend.

Again, we don’t have any meaningful rain or mountain snow chances over the next few days. The Denver area likely stays dry well into next week.

We’re not seeing anything overly ominous in the foreseeable future, though we could have some elevated fire danger concerns later this week depending on our winds. Otherwise, enjoy this late taste of summer!
