Warm and dry again today before big weekend changes

We’ve got another warm and dry couple of days ahead before a big taste of fall this weekend.

DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Chris Bianchi

THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE:

We’ve got a couple of summer-like days in the forecast for both today and tomorrow before those big changes arrive for this weekend.

Highs today top out in the mid-80s, about 5 degrees above our average high of 79° in Denver. It’ll be breezy at times, with gusts up to 20 mph. It’s also our last 7 p.m. or later sunset of the year tonight.

That breezy sunshine continues into tomorrow, with a high a few degrees warmer in the upper 80s in Denver. We’ll see a few more clouds and that breeze picking up a bit as well, which could lead to some limited fire danger concerns.

Then, the big change arrives for Saturday. A cold front moves through likely in the morning, and that’ll usher in wind, clouds, and eventually some showers by the afternoon or early evening. Highs will struggle to hit 70° on Saturday, depending on how much cloud cover we see.

The rain looks steadiest and heaviest on Saturday night and Sunday morning, although there is still considerable uncertainty depending on the exact track of our storm system. However, plan on rain Saturday night and Sunday morning, with snow levels in the high country dropping to perhaps as low as 8,000 feet. We could see several inches of snow above 10,000 feet in particular, especially along and north of I-70.

Highs will tumble into just the upper 50s on Sunday with all that morning cloud cover and those morning showers, and fall officially begins at 7:43 a.m. on Sunday morning.

It looks a bit unsettled early next week, with isolated showers and storms for next Monday and perhaps more widespread showers again on Tuesday, with fall-like highs in the 60s and 70s continuing. However, we’ll clear things up by the middle of the week and get sunny skies and highs back near 80° by Wednesday and Thursday.

Strap in for the Colorado weather rollercoaster, and if you’re a summer lover, enjoy today and tomorrow!
