Broncos lose McGlinchey for 4 weeks with MCL injury

Right tackle was rolled up from behind on final play before 2-minute warning. Alex Palczewski replaced him for final two snaps.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos will be without starting right tackle Mike McGlinchey for at least four weeks after he suffered an MCL injury late in Denver’s 13-6 loss Sunday to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a source confirmed to 9NEWS.

With 2:01 left in the game, Broncos quarterback Bo Nix threw from the Steelers’ 11-yard line high incomplete to the end zone. McGlinchey was blocking edge rusher T.J. Watts while left tackle Garett Bolles was taking down the other edge rusher Alex Highsmith from the other side. McGlinchey got inadvertently rolled up from behind by Bolles and his defender and went down.

The Broncos got the ball back with 9 seconds remaining and Alex Palczewski replaced McGlinchey for the final two plays.

The 6-foot-8, 315-pound McGlinchey was a first-round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers out of Notre Dame in 2018. He was a five-year starter for the 49ers, including in a Super Bowl 54 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Prior to the 2023 season, McGlinchey became a free agent and signed a five-year, $87.5 million contract with the Broncos. He started the first 16 games for the Broncos last year, missing the final game with broken ribs.
