Breezy and a bit cooler, Monday afternoon

Afternoon highs cooler a tad, into the middle 80s, Monday.

DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Laurann Robinson

THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE:

Spotty storms, Sunday evening.

Anyone attending the Denver Broncos home opener should watch for the possibility of a brief, spotty storm. Across the plains, storms become stronger and more widespread. The northern plains are under a Marginal risk for severe weather, with the biggest threats being moderate-sized hail, gusty winds and lightning/thunder.

Overnight, storms move out. Expect mild lows, in the middle 50s.

Monday, the southwestern corner of Colorado, along with the high country, should expect heavy showers. We can’t rule out a stray shower across the front range/plains, but this system will largely dry out as it moves eastward. Afternoon highs will cool a tad, into the middle 80s.

Tuesday, another round of storms pushes in from the west. The mountains could see showers by the afternoon, with scattered showers/storms moving into the front range by 3 or 4 p.m. Eastern plains storms form by 6 p.m. and move out pretty quickly. Afternoon highs stay in the middle 80s.

Temperatures will cool down into the lower 80s Wednesday and Thursday. Watch for spotty showers, late Thursday.

Toward next weekend, Fall-like weather returns. Highs are looking to max out in the 70s, Friday and Saturday, with chances for showers each day. Fall begins next Sunday.
