Sunny, warm Saturday afternoon

Afternoon highs return to the upper 80s, Saturday, under mostly sunny skies.

DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Laurann Robinson

THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE:

An overnight cold front will keep high temperatures significantly cooler on Friday. A high of 83 degrees in Denver would be 10 degrees cooler than the previous day.

Warm weather returns for the weekend!

Afternoon highs return to the upper 80s, Saturday and Sunday, under lots of beautiful sunshine. Both days, wildfire smoke should lift out of Colorado, allowing for better air quality across the front range, eastern plains. Sunday evening, watch for a few isolated storms across the mountains and plains, can’t rule out a stray shower along the front range. All in all, enjoy great football weather for the Rocky Mountain Showdown and the Denver Broncos home opener.

As we push into the next workweek, we get a perfectly timed trough of low pressure that will usher in true fall weather conditions towards the end of the week. Afternoon highs start off in the upper 80s Monday and Tuesday, then drop into the lower 80s Wednesday and Thursday. We could even see forecasts in the 70s by next Friday. Welcome Fall!
