Cooler, with lots of wildfire smoke, Friday

Afternoon highs drop into the lower 80s, Friday, with lots of wildfire smoke from neighboring states.

DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Laurann Robinson

THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE:

Cooler weather Friday, after a cool front pushes into Colorado, late Thursday.

Expect afternoon highs to max out in the lower 80s (seasonal for this time of year). We’ll also see sunny skies, but most of the sunshine will be filtered through wildfire smoke from neighboring states. No air quality alerts have been issued, but anyone with respiratory sensitivities might need to limit their time outdoors.

For the weekend, expect a sunny, dry and warm couple of days. Highs will likely stay in the upper 80s, with an afternoon breeze and mostly sunny skies (again, watch for that pesky wildfire smoke to move in and out over the next few days).

As we go into the next workweek, cooler weather will slowly start to settle in. Highs drop into the middle 80s Monday and Tuesday, then into the lower 80s Wednesday and Thursday. Each of these days is looking to be mostly sunny and dry, but we can’t rule out a stray thundershower here and there.
