Showers end, patchy fog late then back to sunshine and 80s!

If you like the fall-like weather, enjoy today, because the warm weather quickly returns tomorrow and into next week.

DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Chris Bianchi

THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE:

It’s a (brief) taste of fall today across eastern Colorado, with temperatures only in the mid-70s.

After a good soaking rainfall overnight for much of the metro area including Denver, we’ll hold onto a few clouds and leftover showers this morning, but those will come to a close fairly quickly this morning, although areas south of Denver and south of the Palmer Divide will have a chance for showers into early this afternoon.

In the high country, we’ve had some snow above 11,000 feet in elevation, and we could see a bit more this morning before that comes to a close as well.

Otherwise, temperatures are the story, with highs stuck in the mid-70s in Denver with clearing skies later this morning. Our average is in the mid-80s, so we’ll be close to 10 degrees below our early September average.

This taste of fall isn’t going to last long though; a ridge of high pressure quickly builds back in starting tomorrow. That’ll boost our temperatures right back into the mid-80s, right around our seasonal average.

By Saturday, we’ll be near 90 degrees, and that’s exactly where we’ll be for the next five days or so. Highs near 90° and mostly sunny skies dominate our weather picture for the foreseeable future after today.

We don’t have any meaningful Front Range storm chances until at least the end of next week, and even those look minimal. The mountains could see some scattered showers and storms (especially south of I-70) on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

So if you like the fall-like weather, enjoy today, because it won’t last long!
