Piece of metal falls from Cowboys’ stadium roof

A piece of metal fell from the roof at AT&T Stadium ahead of the Dallas Cowboys Monday Night Football match against the Houston Texans.

ARLINGTON, Texas — It’s raining metal at AT&T Stadium.

Before the Dallas Cowboys Monday Night Football match against the Houston Texans, a piece of metal fell from the stadium’s roof while it was in the process of opening, a spokesperson with the Dallas Cowboys confirmed.

After the piece fell, the organization closed the roof.

According to the Cowboys spokesperson, there were no injuries, and the Cowboys organization is evaluating the cause, and a decision about the team’s ability to re-open the roof safely will be made when possible.

Footage from WFAA’s Mike Leslie showed members of the Dallas Cowboys front office evaluating the roof from the field.

WFAA crews at AT&T Stadium reported another loose piece of metal hanging from the rafters.

According to ESPN’s Lisa Salters, the NFL told the Cowboys the metal in the rafters either had to be taken down or secured for the game to go on. Dallas opted to secure the piece, bolting it down to the catwalk, Salters reported.

This was the first time the Dallas Cowboys had opened the roof at AT&T Stadium since October 30, 2022, when the team took on the Chicago Bears in Week 8.
