The fight drew all sorts of big names out to Arlington. Here’s a look at some of the bigger names who showed up.
ARLINGTON, Texas — There’s nothing like a big fight night.
You can feel the energy in the air, and everyone wants to be a part of the huge spectacle — including celebrities.
On Friday night, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson squared off in a boxing match at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, and celebs showed up in numbers to witness the event.
The fight might not have matched the hype, with Paul unanimously beating a showing-his-age Tyson, but it wasn’t just regular fans, frustrated by Netflix buffering issues, who likely felt let down by the affair.
Plenty of big-name stars were, too! Here’s a look at just a few of the bigger stars to make an appearance on Friday.
Rosie Perez
The actress, billed on this night as the “First Lady of Boxing” for her part as an analyst during the fights, starred in popular films like “Do the Right Thing” and “White Men Can’t Jump.”
Cedric the Entertainer
Perez wasn’t the only celebrity Netflix brought in to help out with the broadcasts. Another popular movie star on the payroll on this night was the comedian Cedric the Entertainer, who was on the desk offering his analysis in between bouts.
Jerry Jones and Michael Irvin
With the fight being at Jerry World, you just knew some Cowboys had to be in attendance — along with, of course, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones himself.
Jones and Cowboys legend Michael Irvin popped up to join the desk early on in the night to talk about their excitement in the lead-up to the fight, and to discuss how much they’re looking forward to the NFL’s partnership with Netflix for the league’s Christmas Day games this year.
Shaquille O’Neal and Rob Gronkowski
North Texas’ own Shaquille O’Neal also made an appearance alongside former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski. The two even joked about a potential fight between them later on.
Charlize Theron
The Academy Award-winning South African actress — quite the fighter herself on the silver screen — was in the building.
Joe Manganiello
The “True Blood” and “Magic Mike” performer was another among the reported 70,000 at AT&T Stadium for the night.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott
Yes, that was our state’s governor sitting ringside, right in the background of the fight, all night long.
Joe Jonas
The Dallas-raised performer was spotted out in the crowd early in the night. No word on his also North Texas-raised brother bandmates, though.
Boxing legends Sugar Ray Leonard, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis
Three legends of the sweet science were on hand to show their support for Iron Mike. Seems Tyson and Holyfield have put their earful of a past behind them, too, which is nice to see.
Logan Paul
Not a huge surprise here, but Jake Paul’s brother Logan — who has turned his own YouTube fame into a career in pro wrestling with the WWE rather than in pro boxing — joined his younger sibling for his ring walk before the fight.
Netflix stars including Ralph Macchio, Billy Zabka, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and the “cast” of “Squid Game”
The stars of Netflix’s “Cobra Kai” show, and the famed “The Karate Kid” movie franchise before that, also made an appearance at AT&T Stadium on Friday. Earlier in week, the pair — no strangers to combat themselves — stopped by the WFAA studios to promote the upcoming sixth season of the “Cobra Kai” series during an appearance on “Good Morning Texas” on Thursday.
Other Netflix stars, including the “cast” of “Squid Game” were there, too — promoting, no doubt, the upcoming David Fincher-developed English-language version of the hit show.
And, of course, the stars of “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” were on hand as well. Yes, they did their famed “Thunderstruck” routine.
Tori Kelly
Award-winning musician, and onetime “American Idol” contestant, Tori Kelly was on hand to sing the national anthem before the headlining event during a livestream that…. wasn’t so gallantly streaming.
Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale
Welp, let’s just say the WNBA star was not impressed with what she saw. Alas, she wasn’t alone. Stars: They really are just like us!
