Morning rain and snow showers dissipate quickly ahead of a sunny Wednesday

Winds will relax in the foothills quickly this morning ahead of a dry and generally calm few days of Colorado weather.

DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Chris Bianchi

THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE:

We’ve got a few very early morning rain and snow showers across the state, but those’ll end quite quickly this morning and give way to an overall pleasant but cool Wednesday!

Highs top out in the low 50s in Denver for today (average: 54°), and we’ll have mainly sunny skies with lighter winds compared to yesterday afternoon and evening.

Foothills gusty winds relax through the day, though we could have some periodic 40-50 mph gusts in wind-prone locations mainly this morning.

Zonal flow takes over, meaning we’ll be looking at drier and rather quiet weather over the next few days. We’ll get a bit of a southwesterly kick to the wind as well, which’ll help elevate temperatures into the upper 50s for tomorrow and the low 60s by Friday. We cool down a tad for the weekend, but we’ll stay dry into next week.

Our next storm system of note takes shape for early next week. At this point, it looks like a storm system is going to dip too far south and east to give us much in the way of rain or snow for Monday and Tuesday, though it’s close enough that we’ll have to keep a close eye. Behind that storm, a secondary wave could push in some mountain snow and maybe some for the Denver area next Tuesday and/or Wednesday.

The computer modeling is still resolving the second part of that storm system next week. We’ll keep you posted with the latest, as always.

In the meantime, enjoy the quieter weather through the weekend!
