Nothing spooky about this forecast: Warmer, drier today

After a chilly and foggy start in spots, we’ll rebound into the upper 50s for today, with a relatively mild trick-or-treat forecast on tap as well.

DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Chris Bianchi

THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE:

We’ve got a chilly start to our Halloween, with lows dropping into the 20s across most of eastern Colorado along with some patchy fog. But, that fog should lift fairly quickly this morning, and those temperatures should rebound nicely as well!

We’ll top out in the upper 50s in the Denver area under mostly sunny skies for today, right around average for this time of the year. Trick-or-treating tonight looks relatively comfortable, with lows dropping into the 30s late tonight, but temperatures will mainly be in the upper 40s and low 50s during the early evening.

Colorado will be under the fringes of a ridge of high pressure over the next few days, keeping us tranquil and mild. That’ll tick up highs into the low 60s for tomorrow, and we’ll be in the mid-60s for Saturday.

Our next storm system approaches from the south and west on Sunday. While the computer forecast models are really struggling with this next storm, it appears clouds will increase on Sunday and Sunday night, with a chance for metro area rain or snow showers on Sunday night into Monday morning.

At this time, it looks like mainly rain in the Denver area. However, it could change over to snow, and we could also get a substantial foothills snow event above 7,000 feet in elevation. It’s still a bit early for details, but get ready for snow on Sunday night and Monday in the foothills and certainly in the mountains close to Denver.

Until then, enjoy the tranquil fall weather and relatively pleasant trick-or-treat forecast!
