DENVER — A man who was found dead after a fire in Denver earlier this month has been identified.
Crews with Denver Fire responded to a commercial structure fire at Wazee and 36th streets around 7 a.m. Oct. 8. According to Denver Fire spokesman Luis Cedillo, the building was abandoned and the doors were welded shut.
He said when crews arrived they found smoke coming from the garden level. As they worked to put out the fire they discovered a body inside. Cedillo said they were working to determine how that person made their way inside.
The victim has been identified as Jerry Colclasure, 56. The coroner’s office is working to determine how he died.
