DENVER — Denver Police said they have arrested a suspect in a shooting that killed a man on Sunday.
The police announced the arrest of Dewayne Dietz, 19, on Wednesday.
Police said that officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of East Colfax Avenue and Josephine Street at about 12:41 a.m.
A man found at the scene was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the head, according to the arrest affidavit.
Investigators, with the help of surveillance video and phone records, identified Dietz as the suspect, police said. On Tuesday, during an unrelated investigation, Dietz was contacted and arrested for a warrant from another jurisdiction. Police said Dietz and the victim knew each other and that the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from a robbery.
Police said Dietz is currently being held on investigation of First-Degree Murder, Second-Degree Murder and Aggravated Robbery.
The Office of the Medical Examiner will release the victim’s identity and cause and manner of death.
