Colorado man pleads guilty to threatening election officials

Teak Brockbank, 45, of Cortez entered a guilty plea to transmitting threats after he was arrested over the summer for a series of online postings.

DENVER — While in federal custody, a Colorado man stood before a judge on Wednesday and admitted he posted a series of threats on social media sites that were aimed at election officials.

“I live in Communist Colorado and this Crazed liberal [referring to Election Official-1] and many others in Communist Colorado needs to- No has to Hang she has to Hang by the neck till she is Dead Dead Dead,” Teak Brockbank, 45, wrote online in September 2021.

Brockbank, of Cortez, entered his guilty plea in Colorado’s U.S. District Court in Denver after he was arrested this past summer.

It’s been reported Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold was the target of at least one of the written threats.

In another post, Brockbank wrote a comment targeting election officials in Colorado and Arizona.

“Once those people start getting put to death then the rest will melt like snowflakes and turn on each other,” he wrote, according to federal court documents.

Brockbank also admitted he threatened to shoot a Colorado judge in the head in October 2021.

“I could pick up my rifle and I could go put a bullet in this Mans head and send him to explain himself to our Creator right now. I would be Justified!!! Not only justified but obligated by those in my family who fought and died for the freedom in this country. . . . What can I do other than kill this man my self?” Brockbank wrote, according to federal court records.

The postings, which appeared on sites like Gab and Rumble, came to the attention of federal investigators who work under the Justice Department’s Election Threats Task Force.

The court case also indicates Brockbank is already a convicted felon and may have possessed firearms illegally.

A sentencing date has been set for February. Brockbank could face up to five years in prison.
