Two men were traveling in a vehicle at the time of the shooting, police said, and they eventually stopped on the shoulder of I-25 north of Belleview Avenue. Both were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.
The shooting slowed traffic on I-25 for hours Friday. On Monday, police shut down the southbound lanes in that area for more than an hour to investigate it further.
Police said they have identified two suspects. The day after the shooting, they arrested 42-year-old Burr Charlesworth. On Tuesday, they arrested 35-year-old Luis Mendoza. They’re both being held for investigation of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault, according to police.
Detectives are still working to identify more possible suspects, police said. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.
