Warm weather continues with elevated fire danger tomorrow

We’ll stay on the warm and dry side over the next few days, but we’re watching for a big pattern flip for next week.

DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Chris Bianchi

THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE:

We’re looking at yet another warm and dry ahead for us across Colorado, with highs reaching into the 70s on the Eastern Plains and into the 60s in the high country. However, a big cooldown is just around the corner.

Today we’ll be back in the mid-70s, even after a weak overnight cold front briefly drops temperatures for this morning. We’ll have mostly sunny skies and light winds once again for us.

A storm system approaches from the north and west, and that’ll bring us some wind starting tomorrow and perhaps some higher fire danger as well. It’ll cool down a bit for tomorrow with a high around 70° in Denver, but the main story will be the wind, with 40-50 mph gusts in the foothills and up to 30 mph gusts in Denver. It’s a don’t-be-stupid kind of weather day.

The cold front brings down those temperatures to the mid-60s for a high for Friday, but then we’ll warm right back up again for this weekend and for next Monday ahead of our next big storm system. Highs could touch 80° on Sunday for the home Broncos game.

Then, a strong storm approaches from the west, bringing us a big cooldown starting on Tuesday. There’s a good chance we get some rain initially before a possible flip to snow for Tuesday night and/or Wednesday morning. And make sure to get those sprinklers blown out if you haven’t already; we’re likely looking at a few days of sub-freezing temperatures for the first time this season next week!

We’ll keep a close eye on that storm system, but in the meantime, enjoy the warmer weather while we’ve got it!
