Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run crash

A Dodge truck believed to be involved in the deadly crash has been located, but the driver has not been identified.

AURORA, Colo. — A motorcyclist – who may have been racing another driver – died early Monday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Aurora.

Based on evidence and witness information, Aurora Police traffic investigators believe a person riding a Yamaha motorcycle was speeding and possibly racing a Dodge truck on northbound Interstate 225 near East 6th Avenue.

Around midnight, the truck clipped the motorcyclist as they changed lanes, causing the motorcyclist to lose control and collide with the guardrail. The motorcyclist died on the scene. 

Police said the truck driver left the scene. The vehicle was later located near East 38th Avenue and Sable Boulevard. 

The driver has not been located or identified at this time, however, traffic detectives are following up on leads.
