Auraria Campus Police officer injured in Monday morning shooting

The officer was taken to the hospital where they were treated and released, according to Auraria Campus Police.

DENVER — One person is in custody after a shooting on Auraria Campus that injured a campus police officer.

The shooting happened at about 1:18 a.m. Monday morning, according to Auraria Campus Police. The suspect was contacted by two campus police officers after breaking into a vehicle, police said in a release. The suspect fled and was later found by the officers, according to police.

Officers used a taser in an attempt to take the suspect into custody, according to police. It is unclear if the taser made contact with the suspect, according to police. The suspect fired multiple shots, hitting one officer in the arm, police said.

The suspect fled from officers again before being arrested by both Auraria Campus and Denver Police officers, according to the Auraria Campus Police.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for evaluation of possible injuries, according to police.
