Thomas Gallegos, 56, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of multiple counts including burglary and kidnapping, Sterling Police said.
STERLING, Colo. — Sterling Police arrested a 56-year-old man accused of attempting to abduct an 8-year-old child.
Thomas Gallegos was arrested on suspicion of the following charges, according to police:
- First-degree burglary
- Second-degree attempted kidnapping
- Second-degree assault
- Third-degree assault
- Child abuse
Officers responded Tuesday morning to the 300 block of Walnut Street for a reported kidnapping attempt.
Police said the child was assaulted inside her bedroom and fought with the suspect, who ran away before officers arrived.
Investigators were able to identify Gallegos as a suspect through “a significant amount of digital, forensic and physical evidence.”
An arrest warrant was issued for Gallegos, who was taken into custody on Saturday.
