Another hot and hazy October day on Saturday with another weak cold front coming on Sunday. The work week will be warm and dry until Friday.
DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Cory Reppenhagen
FORECAST AT A GLANCE:
It’s unusual to see 80-degree temperatures in the forecast this late into October but that’s where the Front Range is headed on Saturday. The forecast in Denver is 83 degrees.
Wildfire smoke will bring a haze to the skies once again this weekend as the fires in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming continue to burn.
There are no active wildfires in Colorado but there will be elevated fire weather conditions Saturday and Sunday which increase the threat for grassfires on the prairie. The winds will be lighter on the Front Range with gusts of 10-20 mph, but the humidity is likely to be below 15%.
Sunday we’ll cool back into the 70s thanks to a second cold front moving through. Afternoon high temperatures will still be well above normal for this time of year. Our normal high is 67 degrees.
The work week will be unusually warm again with highs near 80 degrees until Friday when our next low-pressure system moves in. That system will likely bring in the coldest air of the season to the Front Range but so far, the forecast is for the temps to remain above freezing.
The average first freeze in Denver is October 7, so if somehow, we skate through next weekend without a freeze, we’ll likely move into range of some of the latest freezes all-time.
