The fire burned near the I-70 and C-470 interchange behind a Kohl’s and a Home Depot.
GOLDEN, Colo. — A grass fire burned behind a shopping complex in Golden, putting off a large smoke plume. The fire burned just east of the interchange of Interstate 70 and C-470 behind the Kohl’s department store and a Home Depot.
The smoke plume could be seen from 9NEWS’ weather camera located on Lookout Mountain.
Fire crews from Golden, Arvada, Fairmount, Pleasant View and West Metro responded to the 5 1/2-acre blaze, which was first reported at around 3:20 p.m.
At 4:40 p.m., Golden Fire said the fire was 100% contained. No injuries or structural damage were reported.
No evacuation orders were sent out, according to Golden Fire Chief Kasey Beal.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, firefighters said.
