Fast-growing Colorado town gets new grocery store

The new store replaces a King Soopers location on U.S. Highway 287 that closed Oct. 1.

ERIE, Colo. — A fast-growing town in Boulder County has a new grocery store.

King Soopers opened its newest store at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The store is located at 2900 Arapahoe Road in Erie. That’s at the intersection of Arapahoe Road at U.S. Highway 287.

The new store replaces the King Soopers located at U.S. Highway 287 at Baseline Road. That store closed Tuesday.

The new Erie store is 103,000-square-feet and will feature a pharmacy with drive-up capabilities, a Starbucks, fresh sushi, and Murray’s Cheese. A fuel center with 18 pumps will also be on the property’s footprint.

The grocery giant hosted a slew of festivities Wednesday celebrating the store’s opening. The first 200 customers were to receive a free breakfast. There were also free samples and giveaways throughout the store.
