Aurora Police investigating shooting involving officers

The shooting happened when officers responded to a report of a fight in a parking lot in the 11900 block of East 16th Avenue, police said.

AURORA, Colo. — Aurora Police are investigating a shooting involving an officer that injured a person Thursday afternoon.

Police posted just before 3 p.m. that the shooting was being investigated in the 11900 block of East 16th Avenue. That’s near the intersection with Oswego Street, just west of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. 

Officers were responding to a report of a fight in a parking lot in the area when the shooting took police, according to police.

One person was injured and taken to a hospital. The severity of their injury was not immediately known. No officers were shot, a police spokesperson said.
