The heat returns

The heat returns, Wednesday afternoon, with increased fire weather danger.

FORECAST AT A GLANCE:

After a quick break from the heat, temperatures soar into the lower 90s, Wednesday afternoon (adding to our ever-growing accumulation of 90-degree days this year, as well as the latest 90-degree day on record). Additionally, Denver is looking to break it’s record high of 88 degrees, last set in 2005.

With the warm, dry, breezy weather, Red Flag Warnings have been issued for northern portions of the high country, into the northern front range and northeastern plains. These areas should watch for increased fire danger through 7 p.m. Wednesday.

An overnight cool front is expected to move in, dropping highs into the upper 70s, Thursday afternoon (closer to our seasonal high of 72 degrees).

Temperatures quickly rebound for the weekend, under continued sunny skies. Look for highs to reach the middle 80s, Friday, then climb into the upper 80s, Saturday (likely breaking another record high).

More mild weather settles over the area for the start of next week, with afternoon temperatures lingering in the lower 80s, Sunday through Wednesday.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny and a tad cooler, high 78. Mostly clear overnight, low 48.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny and warm, high 84 (record: 87°). Mostly clear overnight, low 53.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny and warm, high 88 (record: 86°). Mostly clear overnight, low 49.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny and mild, high 80. Mostly clear overnight, low 48.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny and mild, high 83 (record: 87°). Mostly clear overnight, low 49.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny and warm, high 82 (record: 85°). Mostly clear overnight, low 50.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny and warm, high 83. Mostly clear overnight, low 52.
