October is off to a cooler start, but the fall-like weather will last one day only.
DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Laurann Robinson
FORECAST AT A GLANCE:
Fall-like weather for the first day of October, but the cooler temperatures only stick around for one day!
Tuesday, afternoon highs drop into the upper 70s, much closer to our seasonal highs in the middle 70s, for this time of year. We’ll see mostly sunny skies, but some wildfire smoke aloft could bring hazy views across Colorado.
Despite the cooler weather, dry, breezy conditions will increase fire danger across north-central Colorado. Red Flag Warnings have been issued for North Park and the mountains of Grand and Jackson counties, through 7 p.m. Tuesday. Prepare for winds gusting up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 11 percent to increase fire danger. Additionally, a Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Rocky Mountain National Park and the foothills of Larimer and Boulder counties, Wednesday afternoon.
If you’re a fall-lover, take advantage of the cooler weather, Tuesday, because the heat returns Wednesday. Afternoon highs could reach the lower 90s, breaking the existing record high of 88 degrees.
Through the rest of the week, sunny, dry, warm weather continues to stick around, with more chances to break record high temperatures.
