We end September and start October on an unusually mild note, with no meaningful rain chances this week and temps mostly running well above average.
DENVER — THE FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Chris Bianchi
TODAY AT A GLANCE:
It’s a dry and slightly cooler start to our week, with a high temperature of 83° in Denver for today behind a late morning cold front.
That dry front will push through the Front Range between 10 a.m. and noon, leading to a breezy and slightly cooler afternoon. There’s a slight chance for a stray sprinkle or two in the foothills south and west of Denver and on the Palmer Divide, but most areas will stay dry with just that increase in wind and a few clouds.
Highs will drop a bit from Sunday’s record-tying maximum of 92°, and as we turn the calendar over to October on Tuesday, we’ll only top out in the upper 70s.
But that more seasonal feel won’t last long; highs jump right back into the upper 80s in Denver for Tuesday. There’s a good chance we hit 90°, and if we do, it’d be our latest 90° reading on record.
It mostly stays dry and warm all week long with highs in the 80s most days, and Saturday could (again) feature record heat with another spike into the upper 80s in Denver.
There’s no real hint of more of a prolonged fall-like feel, so this extended stay of summer is likely to last for a while yet.
