Temperatures spike after today’s brief cooldown, with no meaningful rain chances along the Front Range until next week at the earliest.
DENVER — THE FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Chris Bianchi
FORECAST AT A GLANCE:
Today will be our coolest day of the week with a high ‘only’ in the mid to upper 70s (hint hint: that’s actually our average high for today).
A ridge of high pressure pushes in from our south and west, and that’ll bring us drier and hotter air, and it’s going to last for a while. Highs top out in the upper 80s in Denver tomorrow (record: 91°), while Thursday could feature one of our latest 90-degree readings on record in Denver.
We’re forecasting a high of 90° in Denver on Thursday, which would not only tie a daily record, it’d also mark our 8th-latest 90-degree day on record for the city (official climate records in Denver date back to the 1870s).
We cool down a tad for Friday and the weekend, with highs in the low-to-mid 80s through the weekend. So, it’ll still feel summer-like here for the first full weekend of autumn.
The mountains could get a few showers or storms on Friday and this weekend, especially further south. Most areas stay dry in the high country this weekend, so be sure to check out those peak fall leaves!
Enjoy this late taste of summer, if that’s your thing.
