9NEWS has issued Weather Impact Days for Saturday night and Sunday morning for widespread rain, mountain snow.
DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Laurann Robinson
FORECAST AT A GLANCE:
Cooler, wet weather arrives just in time for the first day of Fall, as the Autumnal Equinox happens Sunday at 6:43 a.m.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has issued Impact Days for Saturday evening through Sunday morning. During this time, Coloradans should prepare for widespread rain showers across the front range/eastern plains and a few inches of snow in the foothills/mountains. The heaviest rainfall/snowfall is expected during the overnight hours, so by late Sunday morning, expect around .25 to .50 inches of rain and 2-5 inches of high country snow.
Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for Rocky Mountain National Park, the mountains of Summit County, the Mosquito Range and Indian Peaks from 6 p.m. this evening through noon Sunday. These areas can expect up to 8 inches of wet snow, causing slick road conditions.
Once the rain and snow move out of Colorado, midday Sunday, we’ll see chilly weather left behind as afternoon highs fall into the upper 50s/lower 60s.
Monday, temperatures rebound a bit, with seasonal highs in the middle 70s. We’re likely to stay mostly dry, but can’t rule out slight shower and storm chances.
Temperatures drop again, into the lower 70s, Tuesday, behind a weak cool front.
By the middle of next week, we’ll see more sunshine, with temperatures starting to level out in the upper 70s to lower 80s, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
