Units respond to Denver grassfire

Crews responded to a grassfire burning around Peña Boulevard and 40th Avenue, a Denver Fire spokesperson said.

DENVER — Crews are responding to a grassfire burning Thursday afternoon around 40th Avenue and Peña Boulevard, a Denver Fire spokesperson said.

The fire was reported at 2:22 p.m. Thursday, the spokesperson said. Initially, two engine companies responded, as did a brush truck specifically used to fight grassfire. The spokesman later said the department reduced its response to one engine.

The size of the fire is unknown, but the spokesperson said crews are trying to respond as quickly as possible to get ahead of any wind-fueled spread.

The spokesperson did not know whether any structures are being threatened by the flames.

No injuries have been reported.

This is a developing situation. This article will be updated as information is confirmed.
