The Denver area will be flirting with the 90-degree mark for the next 5 days with scattered mountain showers and storms.
DENVER — FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Keely Chalmers
THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE:
The high temperature in Denver is forecast to hit 90 degrees today as summer-like weather sticks around for much of the week. That would be the 58th 90-degree day of the year if it does end up that warm and bring us closer to making the top 5 most of all-time.
In the mountains, we’ll see some scattered showers and thunderstorms develop this afternoon. And you might notice a slight haze from wildfire smoke filtering in as westerly flow brings in some smoke from fires burning in the Pacific Northwest.
Those scattered showers and storms in the mountains will start in the early afternoon and last to about sunset. Rain showers are unlikely in the Denver area but there’s a better chance on the northern Front Range near Fort Collins.
By the middle of next week, a storm system will approach Colorado from the west. That will kick up the wind which isn’t good news with this very warm weather. We will have to keep a close eye on the fire danger by next Wednesday and Thursday.
As that system moves across the state on Friday, it will likely drop the temperatures a few degrees with highs possibly in the middle or low 80’s next weekend.
